Please note: This is a small selection of the frequently asked questions we receive. If you are a customer and have a question that you think should be added to this list. Please send it in an email. We cannot guarantee to list it. This FAQ section is updated as frequently as needed. We have not checked the spelling or punctuation on this page as it is usually in response to customer questions and often done in a bit of a rush.
Q. I need to change the content of my website on a regular basis, do you provide that service?
A. Yes, all new websites provided by Hitmaker come with a CMS (Content Management System) built in. Our CMS products vary depending on your individual requirements. All are very user friendly. You will not need to install any additional software on your computer. All you need is a computer with access to the internet. Training and support are provided.
Q. My computer is having problems, can you help?
A. Unfortunately we are not able to guarantee any support for your own computer system. However, if you are able to send us an email, we may be able to provide some FREE advice. Please keep in mind that any advice we provide is given freely and is not part of the service. Our limits of support is usually limited to the services we provide. You should note that we may provide advice, this is considered by us as only advice, it is not guaranteed that the advice we provide will resolve your problem.
Q. Do you provide email services?
A. Yes, if we design you a web site, we will also provide you with all the email accounts you need. We will advise on the best solutions for your individual needs at the time of your enquiry.
Q. I have been contacted by a company who say they can guarantee a top of Google ranking, what do you think I should do?
A. You should completely ignore them. No company or person can guarantee top of search engine position.
Q. I have been asked to join a ink exchange scheme, can you do this for us?
A. We will not take part in link exchange schemes, there are a multitude of reasons for this. These include: The benefits are usually minimal. Search engines such as Google advise against link exchange schemes as they can adversely effect your ranking.
Q. I contacted a company about advertising on their web site, they told me they will only do this if we are willing to add a link from our site to theirs, is this a good idea?
A. In short NO. If you want to promote your website there are a number of effective methods of doing this. Search engines such as Yahoo and Google offer a pay per click service where your website will be ranked on how much you bid per click. In our opinion, this is much better than link exchange. You might also consider banner advertising on popular websites. In our opinion any company that tells you they will not let you advertise if you do not provide reciprocal link should be avoided.
Q. I have decided that I want to change the design of the website you created, do you do this for free?
A. Not unless we have agreed some expected future changes, these might be such as adding a logo, but will never be whole site changes. All design work takes time and effort, it must be charged for. All the websites we design are provided on the basis that you do not pay until you are happy. If we worked for free we could not provide a high quality service.
Q. Can I use the artwork or photography you provided to create another website?
A. No, please read our terms of service with particular attention to section 8.1.
Q. I would like to use some of the photos you provided in other advertising, can I do this?
A. This depends on which photos you want to use. In all cases you should send us an email telling us which publication you want to use them in and which photos you want to use, we will respond as soon as possible. Where the photo is not part of our own library such as of your guest house or hotel, there is usually no problem. However, all pictures which are part of our own library must not be copied in any other publication without payment. You must not use any of the photography or artwork provided by us to create a new website.
Q. Can you email photos for publicity to advertisers for me?
A. Yes, we usually charge a small fee for this service.
Q. What support do you provide?
A. We provide support on all the services we provide.
Q. Can we use your freephone number for support?
A. Yes, provided the questions are about the services we provide. However, sending us an email will cost you nothing and the answers provided are likely to be much more detailed. You can then archive the answer for future reference.
Q. Do you provide refunds for a service if we cancel mid term?
A. No. Here at Hitmaker U.K. we do not charge until you the client have approved the work. In short if we do not provide a quality product which you are happy with, then you do not have to pay. Once you pay for a service, this means you accept that the product we have provided meets your needs and that you are happy with the products.
Q. Are there any ongoing costs?
A. Yes, all the websites we provide come with their own individual domain name and hosting package, this usually includes at least one email address. These services require renewal, usually on an annual basis. Our fees for these ongoing services are very competitive.
Q. I do not have a business, can you design me a website?
A. Unfortunately we do not provide websites for non business clients. You are not required to be VAT registered, neither do you need to be a limited company.
Q. Do you design websites with adult content?
A. It depends on what you mean by adult content, we will not design porn web sites.
Q. Our company is based in Europe, can you design a website for us?
A. Yes, we are also able to travel to produce photography or meet with you. We do however require that all travel and lodging expenses are paid in advance.
Q. I run a get rich quick scheme, are you interested?
A. Yes, please send all your money to the address on our contact us page. Please do not contact us before send your money as the response you are likely to get will be short and not so polite.
Q. How long have you been trading?
A. Since 1997.
Q. Which software do you use in your design work?
A. We have a large quantity of design software, you can find out more by surfing our web pages. The full list is too long to publish. All the software we use is fully licensed.
Q. I want to design my own web site, do you provide hosting?
A. Sorry, but no.
Q. Can you design me a forum to include in my website?
A. Yes, we will advise at the time of making your enquiry.
Q. There is something about the internet or my computer that I do not understand. Should I contact Hitmaker?
A. All our products come with unlimited technical support. However, in order for us to provide a high quality service, all support provided is limited to the services and products we provide. We will not be able to advise you on 3rd party products and services. When a customer continuously requests information outside of our remit, we will advise on the limits of our support. Where this is ignored, we will write to that customer asking them to stick to support requests on the products and services we provide. When this is ignored, we may even request that the customer transfer to another provider. This is not a case of us being un-helpful or arrogant. It is simply a case of ensuring that all the services we provide are backed up with excellent quality support. If we were diverted away from this, the quality of the support we are committed to provide might be compromised. We cannot afford to dilute the quality of the service as a whole for the benefit of a minority of customers.
One of the great benefits of the internet is that you can find answers to almost any question online. If you have a question about the internet, or your computer - that is not covered by our support - we would recommend searching for it.
You should note that not all the information you find will necessarily be useful or of a good quality. If you make any changes to your computer, we highly recommend making notes of any changes, this way you can go back and correct any problems you create.
Most computer applications come with a help menu, this is a good place to start learning about your software. Please do not contact us, we do not support the software installed on your computer.
